Illistrator- Basketball Crazy

Name: Peter Robertson
Basketball History
Peter played basketball off and on from early days in WA during the 1950's.  As Peter's two sons grew up, they were more interested in basketball than football so Peter became interested in coaching juniors.  Peter became the junior boys coordinator for the Subicao Basketball Club.  From one U/12 team Peter assisted the club to grow to include 44 junior teams, both boys and girls with ages ranging from U/12 to U/18s.

The original team from Wembley Primary School, in which Peter's eldest son was a member became the first Subiaco U/12 boys team.  The next year Peter's team amalgamated with another junior team going on to win runner-up State U/16 Champions.  Peter went onto Manage and Assistant Coach two State U/16 boys teams - 1979 & 1980 (Robert Dempster actually played in the 1979 team).  Peter's youngest son and two teammates tried out for the 1980 team unsuccessfully.  Peter coached juniors for 13 years.

Peter played a final year with the "Subi Oldies" when 45 years of age.

Career History
On leaving school Peter worked for 8 years at J Gibbney & Son a leading Perth Commercial Art Studio when he completed a 5 year apprenticeship.  From there Peter went to England and worked in London at an art studio for six months.  I returned to Australia and after a brief stint of Crayfishing in Lancelin, Peter again return to art working for J Gibbney & Son for the second tiem.

Peter married his wife Norma in 1961 and spent six and half years in Melbourne where he worked as a freelance Artist and completed a "Diploma of Commercial Art" from Famous Artist School - Connecticut USA.  Peter and wife Norma had two sons whilst in Melbourne then moved to Launceston in Tasmania where Peter worked for the Examiner Newspaper.  In four and half years in Tasmania Peter subsequently became Art Studio Manager.

Peter and family returned to Perth to work for the Art Department in Advertising Agencies, Art Studios and at times working Freelance.  Computer technology eventually put me out of work at 60 years of age, so Peter retired to design and build his current home in York where he and wife Norma now live.
